Default Returning to GW: Assassin Advice

Yo~

Although I only just created my account, I used to be around this site a fair bit back in my GW days, so I'm kinda half new XD Anyway...

I recently decided, as I'm sure many other people have, that given the recent Guild Wars 2 hype, the new gameplay videos, and all the excitement surrounding it, that I'd re-visit Guild Wars 1, partially for nostalgia reasons, partially to tide me over till GW2, and partially to work on my HoM. Anyway, I thought now would be a good time to pick up my Assassin again, and work my way through EotN, but I have a few questions, most of which relate to my Assassin, and I have looked around different forums but couldn't find anything that quite answers my questions.

Anyway, first things first, my Assassin, I came back and gave him a new build, seeing as my old one was poorly designed, and quite frankly I don't know how I got away with it o.O But I have been looking online, at a load of different builds for Assassins, and a lot of them are very dependant upon equipment. Now I know full well, that in order to, for example, create a build to solo stuff, of course you are going to have to have specific/decent gear, but what I was hoping, is that I might be able to get a few pointers on a general all round build for my Assassin so that I might be able to work my way back into the game, and start accumulating decent equipment, and then naturally, further down the line I can get the good stuff.

To start with, let me list off the current state of my Assassin:

Equipment: Full Kurzick (only the 1.5K stuff i'm afraid)
Weapons: Ungues of the Oni / Shiro's Blades

Current Runes: None (yeah, I know ??_??)

Build: Golden Fox Strike, Wild Strike, Death Blossom, Moebius Strike, Dash, Critical Eye, Critical Defenses, Shadow Refuge

And in the bank I've only got about 10K, so as you can see, I am not exactly rolling in cash, and I have never been that good at making money :/

Bare in mind, I am really out of date as far as GW1 is concerned, considering the last time I played it, was back in 2006, so I apologise in advance if I come across as a bit of a nub XD

Also, random off topic question, I trust when building up my HoM, it doesn't matter what order I do the campaigns in, right? Because I skipped the Nightfall campaign :/

Thank you very much in advance, and I look forward to any feedback you can offor :]

p.s.: I hope I didn't post this in the wrong place? :/

not sure what your asking exactly; the build isn't that bad and neither is your weaponset.
  • i guess the 1 major thing right now is to pick up some pve skills, mainly critical agility (obtained from nf).
  • your weaponsets should be decent enough, though i'd prefer 15>50 or 15/enchanted for the zealous.
  • armour... survivors is the most generic answer, with a minor dagger headpiece, and minor crit.

and you can play the campaigns in any order you like.

1. You can check out the Assassin sub forum in the Campfire section for general information in the stickied basics thread.

2. You need to get runes and insignia for your armor.

3. All that matters for your HoM is adding things to the displays. Order doesn't matter.

If you are having specific problems (other than farming) then post again here or in the Assassin forum. For farming/gold problems, post in the Farming sub forum in Campfire.

10k, thats enough to purchase a minor dagger rune, and a minor crit strikes rune, and put them on your armor. Then most builds will work. In pve, you dont really need that much to succeed, later on you can go with survivors/nightstalkers/radiants whatever u need or fancy, but for starters, id only really bother with the minor crit to hit the 13 breakpoint for energy.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it! Sorry if I wasn't really clear in what I was asking; to be honest I'm not 100% sure I'm certain what I wanted to ask XD I guess it's just a serious case of being away from the game for such a long time, then coming back to it and trying to work your way back in. It'd be easier if I started again, worked my way back up, but I haven't got the time for that atm, so I think I'll just tie up some loose ends. Think I'll just play through the EotN campaign with what i've got (plus some runes which I am going to get ahold of!), then it should all come back to me :]

Thanks again people!
